Bill gates Biography
Bill Gates is a man who is a once-in-a-generation philanthropist and a visionary. Bill Gates is also a man who has never left the door of a software company. Bill Gates founded the company that eventually became Microsoft in the year 1975. Microsoft has since made its presence felt in the technology industry. Bill Gates has over 300 companies under his umbrella. One of the Gates’ most notable contributions to world technology was the introduction of the internet into the world. The internet has since become a key technology in the world today. There is no doubting that the internet and computer use for business has grown in leaps and bounds.
Microsoft survived its earliest days unscathed with many applications that would be there today even if it was nothing like Microsoft today. Its advanced software systems (using its Windows operating system) were however to be acquired. The company was therefore left with no choice but to establish the Windows corporation which would become the software firm it is today. What has helped the company with its operations in the 20th century is that it was left with the most up-to-date and expensive patented products. Its reputation as a first-class firm saw many established firms desire to become licensed users of the company’s software as it is in Microsoft today.
There has been a great imbalance of power in the contemporary business environment, a major gap that remains to impact the world at large. This is something that Bill Gates has been keen on stating that Microsoft should be recognized for its continuous contribution to world technology. One area that the business community has greatly benefited from is the enhanced accessibility of software and technology products and systems through Microsoft’s Windows operating system. There have been great wealth creation that has come up from the company’s products in the whole world. This wealth creation that has come into the world world of Microsoft is something that Bill Gates believes the business community should be on the lookout for.
The business community’s wealth creation is not what worries Bill Gates as much as the idea of protecting its universal access. “One of the biggest issues has been that when computers are cheaper it is very hard to compete with the world’s second-best software company, Apple.” Bill Gates believes that with the spread of computer technology, a vast majority of the world population has been able to participate in economic activities. “This includes a thousand people living in a village in Mexico or Africa who had previously been excluded from the global economy.” This is where Gates believed that the company has been very successful, a company that has created opportunities for people who could never be as fruitful as it was for a company in the world today.
There has always been a great separation between the business community and the shareholders that such a company will have. Bill Gates believes that all the wealth created by the company should be transferred to the shareholders. These shares should then be given back to the investors in the form of dividends. This practice is now known as share buybacks. The total amount of money sent to the shareholders will be used in paying off the shareholders. This will enable shareholders to have more wealth and income. The only disadvantage that is associated with share buybacks is that the corporation also the shareholders a greater net share which is a cause of social concern. Many shareholders have expressed concerns about the real competition that the company suffers. Some organizations are also considering forming one such organization.
Being in such an organization might not be as lucrative as it appears. Even so, it is something that has provided Microsoft with greater wealth creation, a larger source of profit, thus a sustainable company. Microsoft is known to have nearly 2 billion software users across the world. This has given the business community a greater focus for its survival.
Bill Gates’ wealth has been the most talked about subject in the entire world today. It has raised a lot of questions surrounding the distribution of wealth and the true shareholders. The current issue is regarding the need for organizations to distribute and distribute wealth in the current business environment. Bill Gates has made it clear that the shareholders should have greater control over how they receive their profits. “We should not share the wealth in profit-sharing with stockholders, but rather receive their dividends and residual income.”
Bill Gates hopes that Microsoft will be a strong enough company to not only survive for a long time to come but even beyond that. His perspective is that once a company like Microsoft is established, like so many other companies, there should be the passage of a cut-off point. This cut-off point will see those companies in the company leave the company, to pass the wealth to the shareholders and then share in the profits. “As a result of this, Microsoft’s stocks will not fall as drastically as other companies without these practices.”
